Planning a bridal shower takes a lot of work. I created this post for you to make planning your bridal shower easy and to give you some inspiration for a Football themed couples shower.
First, you will need to decide on your venue. You’ll have to sit down and talk with each one of the bridesmaids about what they can realistically afford to spend for the bridal shower. I would suggest planning this and booking the venue at least 6 months ahead, just so you have an accurate idea of cost.
You’ll want to check in with the bride’s family as well. Is mom/grandma/aunt/sister contributing financially to help with the bridal shower? That will give you a better understanding of the budget you have for the bridal shower.
If you’re lucky enough, someone will allow you to host the shower at their house! This will save the bridesmaids a ton of money. You’ll also have some creative freedom with what decorations you want to use, having alcohol, etc.
Once you’ve booked your venue and have solidified the date and time, you’re ready to start designing an invitation.
I would totally recommend creating the invitation yourself on Canva. It’s super easy to use and most of their great features are on the free version.
You’ll want your invitation to stay on theme with the shower. Think of themes like “She Scored a Touchdown” or “Countdown to Kickoff”!
Of course, you can search online for print companies that will mail the printed invitations to you and spend more money. But that’s your choice 😉
I would recommend sending out the invitations at least 6-8 weeks in advance of the bridal shower.
Next, you’ll need to begin thinking about food and drink for the football couples shower.
How long are you hosting the shower? Most showers are only 2 hours, sometimes 3, so that can give you a good idea of how much food to have.
If the shower is only 2 hours in length, let’s say from 2:00pm-4:00pm, you could get away with having a bunch of appetizers and desserts.
If it is any longer than 2 hours, I would recommend having some sort of meal choice.
Of course, if you have booked a venue, they likely come with their own catering company and you’ll be able to select from a menu.
If you are hosting in someone’s home, you could choose to make the food yourself, have everyone bring a dish, or you could outsource the catering as well.
If this is a more relaxed backyard event for you, consider having BBQ style food to go along with the football couples shower theme.

Typically, the only alcoholic drink bridal showers have is a pitcher of mimosas, or a mimosa bar. You’ll need champagne and your choice of juice and fruit toppings.
Since this is a couples shower, you’ll be inviting the boys too. You’ll want to grab some beer for them since this will be a more relaxed setting than a traditional bridal shower.

You’ll want to have plenty of bottled water for your guests and maybe another drink choice such as iced tea or lemonade. Soda is not very typical at bridal showers.

Balloon arches are super on trend right now. You’ll want to look at some inspiration for football themed arches, as long as your venue allows this.
You can do the balloon arches indoors. They do not have to be outside! Although you may want to tie a balloon out front of the house/venue so that your guests are sure of where the bridal shower is.

You can purchase some frames from the dollar store and make cute signs on Canva to decorate and label tables.

Finally, you need to think about how you will entertain your guests.
Bridal Showers are known for their cheesy games about the bride or about the couple. You should definitely have some sort of entertainment for the guests, whether it be games or interactive advice cards.
