I am absolutely loving how we are veering away from the traditional formal aspects of a baby shower. Before, we were seeing a lot of pastel pinks or blues for baby showers.
Now, we are embracing all sorts of fun themes to celebrate the parents-to-be! What an adorable way to celebrate the parents to be better than with a Watermelon Baby Shower!
I am so excited to share a complete list of what you need for your baby shower. Keep reading to find a list of items and creative inspiration for your baby shower!
Baby showers take much planning and preparation.
I created this post for you to make planning your baby shower easy and to give you some inspiration and ideas.
First, you will need to decide on your venue.
You’ll have to sit down and talk with each one of the contributors about what they can realistically afford to spend for the baby shower. I would suggest planning this and booking the venue at least 3 months ahead, just so you have an accurate idea of cost.
Next, you’ll want to check in with the mama-to-be’s family as well. Is mom/grandma/aunt/sister contributing financially to help with the baby shower? That will give you a better understanding of the budget you have for the baby shower.
If you’re lucky enough, someone will allow you to host the shower at their house! This will save everyone a ton of money. You’ll also have some creative freedom with what decorations you want to use.
Once you’ve booked your venue and have solidified the date and time, you’re ready to start designing an invitation.
Make an invitation on Canva! It will save you so much money and you have the freedom to create it exactly how you want. Print the invitation or send it digitally.
You’ll want your invitation to stay on theme.
Of course, you can search online for print companies that will mail the printed invitations to you and spend more money. But that’s your choice.
I would recommend sending out the invitations at least 6-8 weeks in advance of the baby shower.

Next, you’ll need to begin thinking about food and drink for the One in a Melon baby shower.
How long are you hosting the shower? Most showers are only 2 hours, sometimes 3, so that can give you a good idea of how much food to have.
If the shower is only 2 hours in length, let’s say from 2:00pm-4:00pm, you could get away with having a bunch of appetizers and desserts.
Any longer than 2 hours, I would recommend having some sort of meal choice.
Of course, if you have booked a venue, they likely come with their own catering company and you’ll be able to select from a menu.
If you are hosting in someone’s home, you could choose to make the food yourself, have everyone bring a dish, or you could outsource the catering as well.
Don’t forget about drinks!
1. You’ll need flutes! These are disposable and have a classy gold rim.
You’ll want to have plenty of bottled water for your guests and maybe another drink choice such as iced tea or lemonade. Soda is not very typical at baby showers.
To stay on the Baby Shower theme, you could even make a specialty drink!
4. Put it in this Drink Dispenser!
Then, start thinking about decorations for your baby shower.
Definitely look at Pinterest for inspo on decorations!
Balloon arches are super on trend right now. You’ll want to look at some inspiration for spooky themed arches, as long as your venue allows this.
You can do the balloon arches indoors. They do not have to be outside! Although you may want to tie a balloon out front of the house/venue so that your guests are sure of where the baby shower is.
First, here are some Watermelon Baby Shower Balloon Arch Ideas:
5. Decorated Watermelon Balloons
6. Balloons and Watermelon Shaped Balloons
There are seriously so many different balloon arch kits to choose from on Amazon.
11. Make sure you don’t forget your balloon pump! You will NOT want to be doing this without a pump.
Doing these balloon arches takes a lot of time. Make sure you plan accordingly and that you have people helping you with this! You may want to consider blowing up all of the balloons the night before. They should stay fresh.
Next, think about some other Watermelon Baby Shower Decorations:
12. Watercolor Watermelon Backdrop
13. Sweet Little Baby Backdrop
16. Burlap Girl Watermelon Banner
23. String Lights
25. One in a Melon Cake Topper
You can purchase some frames from the dollar store and make cute signs on Canva to decorate on tables.
27. Better yet, I’ve made some Watermelon Baby Shower Printable Signs!
Making them yourself or purchasing print at home templates will save you so much money rather than custom ordering the signs.
Watermelon Baby Shower Favor Ideas
28. Lotion Favors
29. Watermelon Tealight Candles
30. Bottle Openers
31. Candle Favors
Finally, you need to think about how you will entertain your guests at your Sweet Watermelon Baby Shower.
Baby Showers are known for their cheesy games about the mama-to-be or about the couple. You should definitely have some sort of entertainment for the guests, whether it be games or interactive advice cards.
Make sure your games fit the theme of the baby shower!
Lastly, sit back, relax, eat some food, and have a great time!
I hope you give your bestie the Sweet Watermelon Baby Shower of her dreams!
